HER FOOD BITES: Just like most of the tonkatsu places, Saboten also has the unlimited shredded cabbage, miso soup, rice, and pickles. I am not really a fan of pickles, so I would have preferred fruits instead. A single bowl for the cabbage was served for both M and I, with serving chopsticks, unlike others where they served the cabbage together with your individual meals. The tenderloin and loin set meal was what I ordered and it did not disappoint. Although others may be tastier, what sets Saboten's tonkatsu apart would definitely be its tenderness. It was soft and very easy to cut and chew. I was able to consume a lot of their cabbage combined with their roasted sesame sauce which I really love. Overall, Saboten is one of the must-try places if you love tonkatsu, just like I do! :)

HIS FOOD BITES: R has always been a tonkatsu lover and we certainly cannot let the opportunity pass to try out Saboten, one of the main contenders of the best tonkatsu restaurant in the Metro, during our Serendra visit. Just like all the other tonkatsu restaurants that we went to I ordered their Curry Tenderloin set in order to see how it would compare to the others. Surprisingly, I had a lot of their shredded cabbage as opposed to the other contenders. I would give the credit to the freshness of their cabbage and the really flavorful sesame sauce. The Curry Tenderloin's sauce was generously provided upon plating. It was elegantly spicy, giving the more than welcome jump start that I needed after the large amount of roasted sesame sauce that I had consumed. The tenderness of the meat was really noticeable upon your first bite. When it came to the flavor of the meat itself it was good but I would have to say that I have had better. It was a good meal at the end of the day and I was more than happy to oblige to R's best tonkatsu hunt. Until next time!
About the venue: The venue provided a very simplistic Japanese style where diners could eat and converse due to the cozy and quiet atmosphere. Serendra offers basement parking but if ever you decide to park at Bonifacio High Street or Market! Market! you need not to walk that far.
