HER FOOD BITES: My typical idea of a restaurant is to enjoy deliciously cooked food, the kind which I cannot do at home. Of course, I also enjoy meals when I am hungry or am craving a kind of food, so a restaurant which will require me to wait and cook my own food is really not my cup of tea. When our friends invited us to try Ganso-Shabuway, which is a Japanese Style Hot Pot Restaurant much like shabu-shabu, I was a bit hesitant to try it. But because of their raves about it, especially about the shimeji mushroom balls, I certainly wanted to know what the fuss was all about.
The shimeji mushroom balls was, indeed, something to rave about! If you love xiao long bao, you would certainly love this mushroom version of it. It looks like the simple squid ball, but once you bite into it, it bursts with flavor. Mmmmm... so yummy! And now I know why! :) For their specialty soup, which is divided into spicy and non-spicy, it would be best enjoyed if you watched their screens around the restaurant first to know which sauce mix would best fit your taste. Since I had the non-spicy soup (while M got the spicy side, of course :D), I would recommend mixing the sesame and ponzu sauces first, then putting some in your soup to add more flavor to it. Then add some veggies, shimeji mushroom balls, and the angus beef, then you're good to go! :) Healthy and filling, indeed! :) Even just for the shimeji mushroom balls, I would surely go back! :)

HIS FOOD BITES: It has been a couple of years since I went back to Ganso-Shabuway. I have always recalled the taste of the Angus beef and the spicy miso soup so when I was given the chance to visit it together with R, not to mention some of my closest friends, who were with me during my first visit, I did not hesitate to say 'yes'!
The Shabuway Meyer Natural Angus Original set comprises of an Angus beef platter, cabbage, spinach, carrots, mushrooms and tofu. Ganso-Shabuway's broths were separated via a Yin-Yang shaped cooking pot. The serenity of seaweed broth opposite the excitement of the spicy miso broth. My friends and I have a personal favorite at this resto, their Shimeji Mushroom Balls, so we decided to order two additional batches of the glorious round delinquents. The spiciness of the broth together with the tenderness of the Angus beef, the unique taste of the Shimeji Mushroom Balls and the balance of the vegetables, once again did not disappoint. It may not be that filling and the cost a bit pricey but great food with excellent company always equates to an awesome time together. D*mn, just writing about this made me think about the Shimeji Balls again. 'Til next time!
About the venue: The red themed restaurant is located at Greenbelt 5. It provides a straightforward feel to it where patrons could dine, chat and have a great time.
